A bit about me
Hello! My name is Alex, and I am the face behind the camera of Shangri-La Studio!
I started 4-H photography when I was 10 years old, and by the time I was 14 I was running the darkroom for the school year book. I was hooked and knew then that photography was my purpose.
In 2006 I received my college degree and began traveling throughout the United States photographing rodeos, from youth to professional all while venturing more into portraits and weddings. That journey took me to 12 states over the course of eight great big years. I returned to the Panhandle of Nebraska five or so years ago and have been providing Family and Wedding photography here back “home”.
I live on coffee and cereal and am a professional morning person!
I married my best friend, Matt, and we have one little guy, Truett! Matt is a farmer and if I am not out photographing Families or Wedding Parties in the fields of Nebraska, you will find me with my hair tied back and my boots on out helping Matt irrigate and harvest our own fields!
Home for us is Gering, Nebraska.
When we get outside in the fresh air on the farm, it is so quiet and calm that we forget about the crazy busy of the world surrounding us. I adore the great big gift of serenity the farm gives my family.
Looking ahead, my goals include photographing new places and being invited to explore new locations with my clients. Destination photography is my absolute favorite and Ireland and Hawaii are two places that I dream to see along this journey!
I thank you so very much for stopping by! Browse around and feel free to reach out with any questions that you may have. I look forward to meeting you and your family!
You don’t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.
